1) A “Sandwich Round” will take place immediately after the 2013 entry draft.
The Sandwich Draft is the draft the six GMs have created in order to expand the number of players eligible to be drafted. The regular draft includes established players in the NHL, while the entry draft covers the up-and-coming prospects that are with their respective junior clubs. Because the Hoover Bowl was established in 2010, there are still a number of players that have yet to establish themselves but are with professional club teams. Research is needed, but finding the right ingredient can make or break your sandwich.
Eligible Players for the Sandwich Draft
1. Skaters that have been drafted in the past 5 years. For example, for the 2013 Sandwich Draft, eligibility lies in forwards or defenceman that were drafted between 2009-2013.
2. Goalies that have been drafted in the past 7 years. For example, for the 2013 Sandwich Draft, eligibility lies in goalies that were drafted between 2007-2013.
3. From the eligible years, the player cannot have played more than 9 NHL games.
4. Players cannot have been drafted by another team in the league. For example, Ryan Murray fulfils the first three requirements, but has already been drafted by Stammer Time, so he is not eligible to be taken in the Sandwich Draft.
