As an expansion team joining the League in 2011, Dunder Myfuglien and General Manager Mark Goodman made an instant impact.  The 2011 Entry Draft saw GM Goodman take Mika Zibanejad 3rd overall.  From here it was only positives for the young club.  After drafting players like Evgeni Malkin, Zach Parise and John Tavares, Dunder Myfuglien had instant success and quickly became the league powerhouse.  As it would have it, Dunder Myfuglien would win the 2012 Hoover Bowl, defeating Stammer Time in the semis followed by Chance of Fleury’s in the finals.  One year, one championship.

The summer of 2012 held as much excitement for Dunder Myfuglien as the season.  To start, Goodman had one pick remaining in the 2012 Entry Draft which he used to take Teravainen 6th overall.  From here, one of the biggest trades in league history took place when the likes of Zach Parise and Kris Letang were sent to Stammer Time in exchange for a pick in each of the first 3 rounds of the 2012 Draft.  Goodman and company were preparing to set league history as the first club to win back-to-back Hoover Bowl titles.  With six picks in the first three rounds of the 2012-13 draft, Goodman selected Ryan Getzlaf (1), Henrik Zetterberg (2), Marian Hossa (3), Patrick Marleau (12), Patrice Bergeron (17) and Jaromir Jagr (18).  The Dunder Myfuglien forwards were all but finalized before the rest of the teams began selecting their second goalie.

Early into the season, Goodman received league approval to change the team name to Girouxsome Twosome – to more accurately portray the pair from Philly: Claude Giroux and Jakob Voracek.  Only three weeks after this name change came one of the most gruesome injuries that saw Erik Karlsson have his Achilles’s tendon cut my a flailing skate belonging to Matt Cooke.  This was a huge loss to both the Senators and GT.  Added to this was injuries to forwards Evgeni Malkin and Jason Spezza – both missing extended periods of time.  Along with the injuries, GT saw mediocre performances from a handful of his superstars, leading to a semi-final exit in his second straight playoff birth.  The loss came to none other than Stammer Time – the team he beat in the semi-finals the previous year – and the eventual 2012-13 Hoover Bowl Champion.

With an early exit, Goodman and his staff had time to reflect on the disappointing season before the 2013 Entry Draft.  With two picks in the draft, GT selected Elias Lindholm 6th overall and Emile Poirier 24th overall.  The little involvement was a reminder to the organization of the cost of winning.  In the 2013 Sandwich Draft, Goodman selected John Gaudreau 3rd overall and Jean Gabriel Pageau 5th overall; a well-thought out pick like by the fans.  A Hoover Bowl hangover is tough, but there is one every year and in the 2012-13 season, it got the best of Girouxsome Twosome.
